Hospital Bag: Essential Checklist (and What Can Stay Home)

ID, insurance or hospital paperwork, and your prenatal chart should go in an easy-to-reach folder. Some facilities require specific forms β confirm ahead of time.
Comfortable clothes for labor (loose tee, warm socks), non-slip slippers, and travel-size toiletries save space.
For immediate postpartum: loose going-home outfit, high-waisted or disposable underwear, overnight pads if needed, and layered baby clothes (onesie, sleeper, swaddle).
Snacks for your support person, a refillable water bottle, and a phone charger with a long cable matter on long days.
Nice-to-haves: favorite pillow, playlist, diffuser if allowed β calming, but not required. Fewer bags means less stress when packing to go home.
Pack by week 36 and keep the list on the door. At VidaCare we share checklist templates with families β ask your doula at your visit.
